Webhook

A webhook is a mechanism for one system to automatically push data to another when an event occurs. Instead of polling for updates, the receiving system gets notified in real time.

Webhooks are faster than polling but require both systems to support them. In energy operations, not every partner or platform offers webhooks: which is why email-based agents remain so practical.

The OpsForEnergy agents use webhooks where available: for example, from Twilio for SMS: but they are designed to work primarily through email polling so they do not depend on integrations that may not exist.
