Shadow Mode

Shadow mode is a testing strategy where an AI agent runs in parallel with existing human processes without taking real actions. The agent processes the same inputs a human would, produces its own outputs, and logs them for comparison.

This approach lets you measure accuracy, catch edge cases, and build trust before the agent ever touches live data or sends real notifications. It is especially important in operations where a mistake can delay a project or damage a vendor relationship.

Every agent at OpsForEnergy ran in shadow mode for at least two weeks before going live. The Permit Agent shadowed a real inbox, the Field Agent shadowed SMS check-ins, and the Ops Supervisor shadowed weekly reporting.
